The Project SEARCH Staff added something new this year by giving awards out each Intern Rotation at West Tennessee Healthcare. They gave the several awards during the second rotation of Project SEARCH to ensure the students understood their importance.
The Most Supportive Department award goes to The Laundry Department.
The Most Valuable Mentor award goes to Dakota from Patient Transport.
The Intern of the Second Rotation award is Jerico Rodgers.
Project SEARCH is a nationally acclaimed model for transitioning students with intellectual and developmental disabilities from high school into employment through internships at community businesses.
We are excited to begin the Project SEARCH Awards. In addition, we are also excited for the progress each Project SEARCH participant is making.

The city of Jackson, TN received a visit from TN Governor Bill Lee back in September of 2019. In Gov. Lee’s visit to Jackson, TN, he stopped at West Tennessee Healthcare for a special presentation from our Project SEARCH students. Gov. Lee also met with the students during his hospital tour and shared the Expect Employment report with the healthcare community. The Expect Employment report highlighted progress and mutual goals for expanding community employment for Tennesseans with disabilities.
Because of the leadership of Governor Lee, the state of Tennessee continues the momentum of ensuring employment for ALL. We are thankful for the leadership of our great state.
